How to make your child mentally strong?


Cognitive development is the construction of thought processes, including remembering, problem solving, and decision-making, from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. A mother should always try to improve child’s cognitive development. We should stimulate and encourage them than forcing.




Enhance your child’s cognitive development from the birth:

  • Make eye-contact with the newborn while breastfeeding.
  • Talk to the child and sing songs.
  • Touch the baby softly.
  • Cuddle away.
  • Respond to your baby’s needs.
  • Hang a colorful mobile above her crib.

Enhance your child’s cognitive development from 3 months:

  • Kiss, hug and sing softly.
  •  Respond when the baby babbles.
  • Give your baby a soft toy or rattle to reach for and touch.
  • Gently clap your baby's hands together or stretch arms (crossed, out wide, or overhead).
  • Gently move your baby's legs as if paddling a bicycle.
  • Place him on the floor in a safe place on her tummy for short periods to play.
  • The baby looks at hands and plays with own fingers, 


Enhance your child’s cognitive development from 6 months:

  • Help her to sit alone.
  • Let her hold things with both hands.
  • Play peek a boo
  • Explore outside with your baby – you could go for a walk or visit the park with your baby in a sling or pram.
  • Talk to her about your day.
  • Provide noisy toys.
  • Hang mirrors at his level.


Enhance your child’s cognitive development from 9 months:

  • Help her stand on a flat surface.
  • Name the objects you use at home.
  • Play action games in which you and your baby take turns. Try blowing kisses, clapping, or peeking.
  • Read books with your baby.
  • Teach the parts of the body by pointing.
  • Search for hidden objects.
  • Start to see cause and effect, such as the fact that things fall when dropped.


Enhance your child’s cognitive development from 12 months:

  •  Let her walk.
  • Ask to show the familiar objects at home.
  • Let her roll a ball.
  • Encourage her to eat alone.
  • Encourage her to talk proper language.
  • Pointing out colors and shapes.
  • Give simple instructions. “Put the ball in the basket, Please!”
  • Listen to music with him.


Enhance your child’s cognitive development from 18 months:

  • Let her climb the steps.
  •  Teach her to catch and throw a big ball.
  • Take him out on the town.
  • Act silly. Make funny faces, do a crazy dance and wear pants on your head.
  • While looking at a book, ask him questions such as “Where is the teddy bear?”
  • Stack 4 or 5 building blocks.
  • Offer art supplies, such as crayons and washable markers for use on paper. 
  • Talk about colors. Eg. “Bring your red ball.”
  • Name objects or actions in a picture book

Enhance your child’s cognitive development from 2 Years:

  • Teach him to draw a circle or a straight line.
  • Let him express his opinions.
  • Start potty-training.
  • Brush his teeth every day.
  • Do three to four-piece puzzles
  • Group toys by type, size, or color.
  • Observe and imitate adult actions, for example pretending to drive a car.
  • Enjoys playing with sand, water, dough; explores what these materials can do more than making things with them.
  • Can follow two or more directions.


Enhance your child’s cognitive development from 3 Years:

  • Stand on one foot for about 5 seconds.
  • Kick, throw and catch a ball.
  •  Ride a tricycle.
  • Take her to a grocery store and let her find the things that you need.
  • Join her when cooking and talk about the ingredients and measurements.
  • Correctly identifies some colors.
  • Remembers the parts of a story.
  • Can match identical pictures.
  • Knows own gender.


Enhance your child’s cognitive development from 4 Years:

  • Do a somersault and hop.
  • Dress alone.
  • Use a fork and a spoon.
  • Involve and cooperate in team work.
  • Draw a person with a body.
  • Count ten or more objects.
  • Knows his/her name, age, phone number and address, if taught.
  • Can count 10 or more objects.
  • Copies letters and may write some.
